Known in Australia as the Paw Paw tree, these are popular garden trees due to their tropical looking foliage, manageable shape, attractive look and of course the delicious fruit they produce.They can often produce papaya within 12 months of planting.
A spiral arrangement of leaves which grow to 50-70cm in diameter, are generally confined to the top of the trunk. Fruits will ripen all year round and you could even get up to 30kg in a season.
Enjoys free draining, compost rich soil in a warm but protected position.
