An evergreen native to the Amazonian region that grows to 10m tall. Fruit has a yellow skin and translucent white flesh. Texture like jelly and taste similar to sapodilla.
The tree takes 5 years to fruit when grown from seed are then produced from February to October.
Fresh fruit, to flavour ice-creams and desserts, the pulp from the plant can also be used medicinally to relived coughs and bronchitis.
Requires a moderate amount of water with very well drained soil. Prefers full sun and does not tolerate frost.
