Grows near the coast including on cliffs right next to the ocean giving it its common name of coastal rosemary. Produces small white flowers year-round with characteristic orange spots on their bottom half and the top petal joined together with two lobes.
Tolerant of a variety of soils and climates with a low watering requirement, making it very popular. Has many uses including as a ground cover, hedge, box garden, retaining wall or ornamental shrub. Although commonly called coastal rosemary it doesn’t have a strong aroma like traditional rosemary used in cooking.
