The achacha is native to Bolivia in the Southern Amazon basin and is an evergreen tree growing up to 10m tall. The tree will fruit in summer months from December to mid-March.
The fruit has a tangy and refreshing taste described as both bitter and sweet. It is bright orange and grow to 6cm long by 4cm in diameter. The skin of the fruit can also create a great drink.
It prefers tropical/subtropical climates with full sun to part shade and is not tolerant of frosts.
